Daylight saving

Daylight saving started today, Sunday 28.10.2007 with us in Victoria winding the clock forward by 1 hour. Still can't get use to the time difference, ate dinner at 10:30pm which technically to my body clock was still 9:30pm. I know that it's a bit late to be eating even at "9:30pm" but we had a very heavy "American" lunch of hot dog and burger at 2:15pm.

After lunch, we walked along Chapel St to visit my favourite boutique, Alannah Hill. Tried a few dresses and a top. Loved one of the dresses but decided not to buy as was beyond my budget, plus won't get much wear out of it. As for the top, had a little tussle with the boy as he hated it. But me being a stubborn girl, decided to go ahead with the purchase :PThis is what the "fight" was about. What do you think? Anyway I've been banned from wearing it out when with him so I'll just wear it to work. Otherwise, I'll return it next weekend as they have a 7 day return policy.

Anyway things calmed down after we went to Borders bookshop. I bought a few magazines and a book by Victorian Beckham called That Extra Half an Inch. This is what the book looks like. Not that I'm a big fan of hers, but the contents looked interesting.

Makeover

Saturday afternoon 27.10.2007, Keith and I went to AIX Cafe Creperie Salon for lunch. Being a small crammed cafe, we had to share a table with a family of three. They turned out to be Malaysians, so we chatted with them. Coincidentally, the couple's daughter is a 5th year medical student so Keith advised her, "Change course, don't do medicine!" Surprisingly her mum seconded Keith. Anyway, back to the crepes, I ordered smoked salmon while Keith had field mushrooms. They were quite good except that I wish we had ordered dessert crepes instead. Looked more tempting.

After lunch, I proceeded to get my makeover done at the Lancome counter. Was given a free makeover session after purchasing their skin care products. Felt a bit uncomfortable as it was my first time getting make up done in public with passer-bys to see. Wasn't too happy with the end product as the make up was so full-on. Not used to seeing my eyes so darkly coloured, and lips so red. Felt like I was a totally different person and in a theatrical play. Anyway here's the end product of my fateful makeover. Will it put me off or spur me on?

Boat Making

Keith has been very, very, very busy last couple of weeks building his boat model. The house is filled with dust flying everywhere due to the drilling, sawing and sand-papering of wood. I can't hug him these days cos his shirt and pants are always covered with saw dust. When he's naughty, he'll come give me a hug and wipe the saw dust all over me.

I've also helped him with the boat, but only very minor bits. I've taken photos of the bits I've done, but also photos of the overall ship which Keith has put so many hours into. The ship's called HMS Bounty. There's a girl glued to the front of the ship, I wanted him to paint her to look like me, but too bad...he has painted her a blonde instead! Says that if she had black hair she wouldn't stand out. The red dress she's wearing is after one of my red pieces, so I guess that makes up for it. I could dye my hair blonde anyway! Here's a photo of her and the rest of the boat.
What Keith has done as above and what I've done as below.

P/S: Actually what I've done is to just coil and glue the green thread into circles and tie the green thread to those little rectangle chips of wood. As for the second pic of my work, I've only built the little boat that's above the slightly bigger boat. See my shoddy workmanship! *Grin*

I've been called a slacker..

KatKat's called me a slacker for not updating my blog, so here I am sitting and pondering on what to write. Nothing interesting has happened so it's a bit hard.

Let me see... I have been nicknamed 'Quality Queen' at work because I'm the only one so far who has scored a 100% 25 times consecutively while being remote monitored and double jacked on the phones. For that I've been given a certificate of achievement and also a free paid day off work. My manager told me no one's come close, so I guess I should give myself a pat on the back ;)

Besides work, I have been busy 'facebook-ing' and helping Keith build his miniature wooden ship model. He does the difficult bits while I do the easy, simple bits like tying, swirling, glue-ing ropes and double knotting threads to tiny bits of wood. I'm also reading Harry Potter Goblet of Fire at the moment.

Recent purchases I made are OPI nail polish, Clinique superbalm moisturizing gloss in lilac and almost lipstick in black honey, MAC select spf15 moistureblend foundation and MAC mineralize skin finish natural powder and some Alannah Hill tops.

I wish the weather in Melbourne would warm up faster, it's spring now but still can't go out without a jacket. Friends in Perth and Sydney are already wearing short sleeve tops or sundresses while I'm still stuck with layers. Daylight saving will start on the last Sunday of October so we'll be 3 hours ahead of Malaysia after next week.

I think I've blogged enough for tonight. It's 12:26am and I start work at 7:45am tomorrow, which means I have to wake up at 6:45am. Yikes. So good night for now :)

Notebook not working

I think my notebook or the HDD is dead :( Can't load windows today, and it says system disc error. Tried rebooting and reinstalling windows from the CD Rom but it won't load *sigh*. I've given up trying.

Bye bye notebook....09/10/2007 6:30pm... I'll miss you :(

Arghhh... spywareeee :(

My notebook got infected by spyware two days ago!@!#$!% Thanks to clicking on a link sent by a friend on MSN messenger. Now all my files, photos and stuff are lost :( Had to reformat the whole HDD and reinstall Windows XP. Grrrrr....... the notebook is also making funny whirring noises as Keith got frustrated with it and gave it a smack! However, I'm glad the notebook is not a total write off yet and I can still surf the internet. That's the main thing :)

New topic....I've found a Malaysian restaurant in Chinatown that makes good Nasi Lemak. Yummmm... the rice has decent coconut milk in it, the sambal tastes good and they serve it with either beef rendang or chicken curry. I love their fried kway teow and teh tarik too. Yay, now I know where to go to get my Malaysian fix :)

Had a haircut today... more like a trim. Still same style... boring and conservative. Bought some clothes from Alannah Hill, my current favourite Aussie designer. Her things are very girly and the shop assistants are extremely friendly and helpful. They look fantastic too :)

Watched Little Miss Sunshine on dvd couple of days ago. It's a very good movie of the dysfunctional American family. Do watch it if you can. I'm waiting for Ang Lee's latest movie, Lust Caution. A segment of it was filmed in Malaysia and the movie won Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival. Anyway, it's bed time for me now so nite nite folks :)
