Keith was such a gem, he was so patient with my whinging, anxiety and trepidations. Realising that I needed professional help, Keith paid for me to get an hour of lesson while he went seeking cheap thrills on the steep slopes. Mike the instructor was most patient and taught me the basics. During the lesson, he only had to help me up twice so I guess I wasn't too difficult a student. It went by too quickly though. Of course, the lesson wasn't enough for me to go gallivanting on the slopes but I somehow did. This obviously resulted in me taking a hard fall on the steep slope. Thankfully one of the ski instructors, Dan came to my rescue. I was so grateful to him for helping me, a total stranger, up.
Next day, I went back for my second round of 2 hour ski lesson. This time I got the very helpful Dan as my instructor. Dan hails all the way from Aspen, Colorado, US. I was surprised to find a whole heap of mixed nationalities in one ski resort. Some of the workers were from England, New Zealand, USA, Taiwan while holiday makers were from Africa, Mauritius, France, Singapore, Malaysia, Canada etc. Anyway I got better on the second day. I was basically on the ski slopes from 9am to 5:30pm!
Third day was just as fun. However, we had to check out early from the Arlberg Hotel so we skiied for just 3 hours. By the end of it, I was starting to enjoy the whole skiing experience. Even the instructors were proud of me. They gave me the thumbs up when they saw me whizzing by with no dramas. I love the adrenaline rush and the white beautiful winter wonderland scenery. Keith and I are now hungry for more skiing, so we may visit Mt Hotham next month. Yipee yay yay!
So thanks, Keith, for having faith in my skiing abilities, encouraging me all the way and giving me such a fantastic holiday!
